Sodium Saccharin vs Sodium Cyclamate: Which Sweetener Wins in Pakistan?

Sodium Saccharin vs Sodium Cyclamate in Pakistan

Selecting the right artificial sweetener is one of the most important formulation decisions a Pakistani food manufacturer makes. Sodium Saccharin and Sodium Cyclamate are the two work-horses of PK industry, but they behave very differently.

Sodium Saccharin is roughly 300–500 times sweeter than sucrose with a slight metallic aftertaste at high doses. Sodium Cyclamate, in contrast, is only about 30–50 times sweeter than sucrose but has a much cleaner taste profile.

In real-world PK formulations, the two are often blended (typically 1:10 saccharin to cyclamate) to mask the saccharin aftertaste while keeping the cost down. Asad Chemicals stocks both at wholesale rates with halal certification.
